Terror by the Slice!
Synopsis: Two cops on the trail of a killer out to make the ultimate pizza. Frank and Jimmy have one of their worst nights ever on the force as they remain one step behind a mysterious killer butchering men and women and stealing limbs and organs. Frank has been everywhere and seen it all, but even he can’t make heads or tail of these seemingly unrelated crimes. Can he and his partner save a city held in fear?

Shot in a week with an all volunteer cast and crew this no-budget feature film was a labour of love for the team of Ian Russell and Lee Hansen. Not really knowing what they were doing, they wrote, held auditions for, shot, did special effects, lit, recorded, and edited the film learning as they went. While it might look and sound rough, there are some genuine laughs in the production and it proved an excellent learning experience.
CYBERNETIC SHOWDOWN – Rating Pending
Synopsis: Jimmy, the head of the police force that is the only thing keeping new Winnipeg from the anarchy of a post-apocalyptic world, struggles to lead a rag-tag group against mutant invaders at the command of a mysterious figure from out in the wasteland. Can he keep the peace in a world gone mad?
Shot the following year after THE KILLING DEATH, CYBERNETIC SHOWDOWN was thought lost after a serious computer fire wiped out all of the editing and special effects work that had been done, but through the diligent restoration work of the Ringo Jones team, the film is being brought back from the brink of extinction to finally see the light of day in the near future.
THE CASTRO KERFUFFLE
An assignment in a filmmaking workshop, this short film deals with one annoying hipster who just wont go away.
TRIVIA: The lead actor was supposed to bring his own castro hat, but forgot it at home thus rendering the name of the project a confusing mystery to most.
THE SATYR’S WALTZ & RANDOM POINTLESS SH*T
These two films were culled from the remnants of a filming disaster. As part of a filmmaking workshop, the class was tasked with making short films using nearly one hundred year old Bolex Cameras. Of course these cameras were defective and most of the footage of three short films that Ian Russell tried to shoot was lost. What could be salvaged was turned into THE SATYR’S WALTZ and RANDOM POINTLESS SH*T, both exercises in the patented kind of odd humour that Ringo Jones has become synonymous with.
An experiment in quick filmmaking, GUY/GIRL was conceived, written, directed, edited, and premiered within a ten day period. The shoot was loosely improvised which made editing a pain, but the microphone used was malfunctioning which made much of the dialogue inaudible. Never one to let technical difficulties stand in the way of a project’s completion it was finished anyway.
TRIVIA: This film was intended as a commentary on how a guy could be much less than he appeared but feminist commentators have pointed out that perhaps it could be interpreted as how a man objectifies a woman by not listening to what she has to say. Whoops?
ZOMBIES IN THE TOILET & BABY HEADS IN THE TOILET: A ZOMBIES IN THE TOILET REMIX
This double feature was an attempt to re-shoot one of the films that was lost during the great bolex camera debacle of 2005 using modern HD technology. A simple story about a man who just has to pee, it was given the remix treatment by expert visual effects artist Ryan Hill.
A METALHEAD’S LAMENT
Shot as a favour to a friend of a friend, this short was intended to be used as an audition for the old MuchMusic show The Shift. Unfortunately, the man didn’t get the gig.
TRIVIA: An unnoticed booger in the lead’s nose made much of the footage nearly unusable!
THE WIZARD 2: THE WII-ZARD
The Winnipeg Cinematheque held a sequel/remake contest in conjunction with the release of the SON OF RAMBOW movie. Each entrant was tasked with creating a sequel or remake of an existing movie in under ten minutes of running time. In this film, a sequel to the classic Fred Savage vehicle THE WIZARD, we flash forward nearly twenty years to find Jimmy a broken man living with Haley and lost in a bottle. When a new Video Armageddon is announced using the latest in gaming technology, Corey returns from the past to whip Jimmy into shape for one last chance to win back the girl of his dreams.
TRIVIA: This film did not win the contest despite being the best entrant and the team at Ringo Jones blames a poor projectionist who failed to cue the sound at the appropriate level, leaving much of the dialogue inaudible to the theatre audience.
STONE – A DAVID PERRETT INSTALLATION
Stone was an art installation in Vari Hall at York University in Toronto. June 4th, 2016.

This short film is a brief tour of the Ringo Jones booth at C4 – Central Canada Comic Con 2017.
From Oct. 27-29, 2017, Ringo Jones Productions tabled at the largest Comic Con in Winnipeg and debuted the new REVENGIST series in addition to the brand new horror novel THE KILLING DEATH.
